I luuuuuuuuv being lucky 🍀🍀🍀

So, I’m having the best day ever.  Okay, as some of you may know, I commute 4hours/240miles (roundtrip) to work each day.  I leave the house at 4am, and usually get home anytime between 4:15-5:45pm.  Not gonna get into the specifics, but that’s what I do M-F.  Anyway, Today, I rode the Duc to work for the first time.  I didn’t fill-up before hitting the highway on my way home.  With about 50miles left in my commute, my gas light illuminated.  I quickly do the math and estimate I have about 30miles before my tank runs dry.  Then, i estimate the nearest gas station is 8miles away with the 2nd nearest station being  21miles away.  Of course, I opt to fill up at station number 2.  I reach 21miles with the light on and realize the station is gonna be closer to the 30mile mark.  Well, check this, at the 29ish mile mark (yes, really) I accelerate into the fast lane to pass up a slow vehicle, right where the highway peaks before dipping into a 4% grade (or so).  And right then, boom, engine shuts off -no more fuel.  I instinctively shift into neutral (lose 5mph instantly) and slide into the shoulder.  I flip my visor up, hunch into a racer’s crouch and coaaaaast down the grade towards the off ramp a couple hundred yards away.  50mph, 40mph, 30… 20…   A CHP Officer was parked adjacent to the off ramp intersection and spotted me.  The Officer put his parking lights on but stayed in his vehicle when he noticed I was in total control.  I spotted his smirk off his side mirror as I sailed past him at about 12mph.  The north/south traffic had the green light at the intersection and I came to a complete stop by lightly tapping my brakes.  I hopped off my bike and casually walked the motorcycle the 20 feet or so towards closest pump.  No one paid me any mind as I approached the gas station.  I inserted my credit card into the machine and started pumping.  I NEVER EVEN BROKE A SWEAT, YO.  It was so cool!  No fuel??? Puh-lease 😎#CANTSTOPWONTSTOP

Dude, I need a wife (and her income)

I just spent the last 3hours online, looking at home prices in OC. A simple bachelor pad with a two car garage and a backyard for the pooch will run me about a half-mill. Basically, I’ll be house poor if I buy a place on my own.

A slowwwww 2.25miles in 22 ‘n change with the pooch and weighted vest.  This was our first run in weeks and it was painful for both of us.  I felt old and slow.  On the bright side, I’m working with a new pair of Nike testers -yay!

Less than 3 weeks left in San Diego, eeek!

I haven’t started packing yet, but yesterday, I threw away a lot of junk and brokered a deal for my bookshelf, TV stand, and bed (frame).  I’ve been actively spending more quality time with Zito.  I brought him with me to lunch on Sunday, dinner date last night, and will bring him along to another dinner date tonight.  Not sure how I’ll manage sleeping without that cuddle monkey using my legs/tummy as his personal pillow.  I’m really gonna miss him while I’m away on my fellowship😔 

Speaking of which, I mapped out my drive to the East Coast with a mini ballpark tour.  Vegas on the 14th-15th.  Denver for Rockies vs Dodgers on the 16th.  Kansas City for Royals vs White Sox on the 17th.  St Louis for Cards vs Brewers on the 18th.  Chicago for Cubs vs Dodgers on the 19th (day game at Wrigley -YAY!)  Arrive in Nashville on the 20th and hangout for the night.  Then, Atlanta for Braves vs Mets.  I was hoping to checkout Miller Park, but the Brew Crew is on the road that week. 

I may pack on 5-10lbs in the next month.  I’ve been eating out a lot because A) dating, but also B) I want to make final visits to my favorite bars and restaurants before go.  Also, I craft beer.  I got my Stone Brewing Co growler filled yesterday with a red ale and will likely get my Alpine Beer Co growler filled on Friday.  I hate to admit it, but I’ll likely drink at least two beers a day for the next 33 days.  Sorry liver.  Sorry abs😕

Soooo if any of you are in those aforementioned cities and would like to catch a ballgame, hit me up.  Cheers 🍻

Conditioning: 20sec work with 10sec rest for 4min (5 exercises = 20min). Wall Squat, chin-up, deficit pushups, coffin sit-up, row/AirDyne for calorie. 

Strength: 1Rep AHAP (as heavy as possible) clean + hang clean + jerk.  1st set: 95lbs, 2nd set: 115lbs, 3rd set: 135lbs, 4th set:155lbs, 5th set: 160lbs

Warmup: dynamic drills. 3min of single under work incorporating changes in cadence, foot placement, knee height and rope angles.

Cool down: date night at the bar with Zeet, a girl, and craft beer

August 15th, 2014

Conditioning: 5min AMRAP of 15 Power Cleans; 95lbs, 125lbs, 155lbs, 175lbs. Complete 15 at 95lbs and work your way up the ladder.  TOTAL: 32 (15 at 95lbs + 15 at 125lbs + 2 at 155lbs)

Strength: establish front squat 3RepMax.  70% of 1Rep Max x 3 (135lbs), 75% x 3 (140lbs), 80% x 3 (155lbs) , AHAP (as heavy has possible) x 3 (175lbs & 195lbs -New PR!). 

Warmup: band aided hip, wrists & lat stretching.  Barbell complex at 45lbs; 5 deadlifts, 5 hang cleans, 5 front squats x2.

Cool down: 5min run   

I was surprised to see how strong and in control i was with the front squats.    My poor flexibly usually limits how heavy i can go, but today, i felt i could have gone heavier if time permitted.

Warmup: 10min of dodgeball

WOD: with a partner; 75 wallballs at 20lbs (toss it over the rig to your partner), 50 pull-ups (partner A completes pull-ups while partner B dead-hangs chin-ups, switch when one of you fails), 40 burped box-jumps (while partner holds 75lbs Atlas stone at the bottom of front squat position), 30 toes-to-bar, 2000meter row.  Then, 5min to establish a combined 1RepMax back squat total. TIME: 22:44 + 430lbs.

Conditioning:  3x max Chin-up with 3min rest between sets. TOTAL: 22  Then, 3min max AirDyne for calories; 11Cal

Strength: 12min to find bench press 5RepMax; 185lbs -New 5RM PR!

Warmup: Dynamic drills, 30double-unders + 10plyo push-ups

Cool down: wrist stretching with band

Conditioning: 2min to AirDyne 15calories + max kb swings at 53lbs.  3min rest, repeat 3times.  1st Rnd: 35, 2nd Rnd: 20, 3rd Rnd: 23

Strength: RFSSS (basically Bulgarian split squat) w/ TRX straps or rings.  4x8 at 3-2-1 tempo while holding 35lbs KB followed by 30sec of superman holds.

Warmup: Dynamic drills, mash out calves/ankles

Cool down: band aided hip stretches

Then, night time kayaking!
